Four-alarm fire severely damages two San José businesses

On Monday, November 1, 2010 at 2:38 AM, units of the San José Fire Department responded to reports of a fire in the area of 1030 North 10th Street in an industrial area northeast of downtown San José.

Companies assigned to the call arrived to find heavy fire conditions between a nightclub and a metals recycling facility located at 1032 North 10th Street.

The fire, which may have started on the exterior of the buildings, quickly extended into both businesses causing serious damage. Due to the volume of fire and the types of structures involved the incident commander called for additional firefighters and equipment.

Approximately 70 firefighters worked to contain the blaze to the two structures while preventing the flames from doing significant damage to adjacent exposures.

There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians.
