Fire Department members recognized for life-saving effort
On Sunday, June 8th, 2014, members of the San José Fire Department received special recognition for their lifesaving efforts during a medical emergency in which a four-year-old child suffered cardiac arrest while at a playground.
Senior Public Safety Dispatcher, Jennifer Burnham, took the 9-1-1 call from Mary Nopachai, the child's mother, and was able to provide CPR instructions until firefighters arrived. When firefighters from Station 35 reached the scene they were able to provide the emergency medical care necessary to stabilize the child for transport to a nearby hospital.
San José City Councilmember Ash Kalra presented Burnham and the A shift crew from Station 35 with a plaque in recognition of their contribution to saving the child.
The young man, Alex, has fully recovered and is doing well! Are you a member of the fire service?
