Fire strikes San José construction business
On Sunday, January 19, 2013, at 1120 hours, units of the San José Fire Department responded to reports of smoke showing from a one-story commercial structure at 1810 Almaden Boulevard. Engine 26 also reported a column of smoke visible while en route.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire showing from the rear of Strouss Brothers Construction. The crew of Engine 6 immediately stretched an attack line and initiated fire attack. With additional resources coming on scene companies quickly began vertical ventilation and removal of bars from the structure’s windows.
The blaze was knocked down quickly and contained to the original fire building. One employee of the business suffered mild smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene. The three-alarm fire was under control in less than an hour.
