Kayaker discovers body near Alviso
On Saturday, May 24, 2013, at 10:15 AM, the San José Fire Department responded to the Alviso marina after receiving word that a kayaker had discovered a person in the water north of the boat launch.
Members of the SJFD Urban Search and Rescue Task Force launched two rescue boats and were guided to the scene by a CAL FIRE helicopter. Upon their arrival firefighters determined the victim, a male, was deceased.
Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department dive team members and investigators recovered the body just before 3:30 PM. The cause of death is yet to be determined.San José Fire Department Assignment:

The recent discovery of a body floating in the Coyote Creek, approximately four miles from the Alviso marina, is now believed to be that of a Clearlake man that jumped from the San Mateo Bridge. The preliminary cause of death is drowning, but the investigation continues into whether the death was ultimately a suicide.Are you a member of the fire service?
