Man dies in San José house fire

During the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 16, 2010, an intense two-alarm fire destroyed a single family San José home leaving one occupant dead and two others homeless.

Arriving firefighters aboard San José Engine 27 backed up by San José Engine 35 arrived at the scene three minutes after the initial 9-1-1 call. The home, at 158 Avenida Espana on the city's south side, was almost completely consumed by fire and smoke.

Two residents, one suffering from smoke inhalation, were able to escape the burning structure. Unfortunately a third occupant was found dead after the bulk of the fire had been knocked down.
