San José apartment fire leaves three dead
On Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 11:10 PM, the San José Fire Department responded to multiple reports of people trapped in a burning apartment building at 3679 Bridgeport Court.
Upon the arrival of the first due engine and truck companies, firefighters confirmed a working fire with people trapped on the second floor of a two story multiple family dwelling. An aggressive rescue and evacuation effort was initiated as additional resources were summoned to the scene.
Tragically, three people perished in the fire and three others, including a San Jose police officer that had attempted a rescue, were transported to local hospitals for smoke inhalation. By the time the fire had been extinguished 56 people had been displaced.
12.31.2012 - UPDATE: According to the Silicon Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross, 47 adults and 26 children were being sheltered and cared for after a fatal fire displaced residents from an apartment building in San Jose.Are you a member of the fire service?
