Two injured in early morning house fire
On Friday, October 12, 2012 at 3:48 AM, units of the San José Fire Department responded to a report of a possible explosion and fire in a home at 15107 Carlton Avenue near Highway 85 and Union Avenue.
Upon arrival firefighters were confronted with a fully involved single story dwelling with fire impinging on neighboring homes. Evacuation of threatened exposures was quickly completed as crews stretched and placed multiple hand lines into operation. Due to the intensity of the blaze firefighters were forced to attack the fire from the exterior of the home.
Firefighters also faced the additional challenge of ammunition exploding inside the home, but were successful in containing the fire to the building of origin and preventing the spread of flames to adjacent structures.
Two residents of the home suffered minor burns and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. No other injuries occurred and the cause of the fire is not considered to be suspicious. Are you a member of the fire service?
