Three-alarm fire strikes Campbell business
At 4:25 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2005, units from the Santa Clara County Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a vegetation fire burning on the right shoulder of State Highway 17 in Campbell, California. Shortly after the first equipment was dispatched to the brush fire, reports of a structure fire adjacent to the highway were received prompting a structure response to 813 Christich Lane.
Arriving units discovered heavy smoke and flames consuming at least one structure prompting a third-alarm and mutual aid from the San José Fire Department. According to Capt. Steve Prziborowski, a spokesman for the Santa Clara County Fire Department, the fire required approximately 20 pieces of apparatus and over 50 firefighters to bring under control.
Because of the severity of the fire at the time of arrival the incident commander chose to initiate defensive operations rather than risk firefighter lives on interior operations. There were no reports of injuries. Are you a member of the fire service? If you are interested in acquiring photos, please email me (email@example.com) and let me know what you are interested in.
