Fire damages San José home, dog saved

On Sunday, August 30, 2009 at 7:06 AM, members of the San José Fire Department responded to reports of fire in a one-story, single family dwelling at 375 Costa Mesa Drive on the city's south side.

Arriving firefighters were confronted with heavy fire and smoke showing from the garage of the home. A second alarm was quickly struck as the fire threatened adjacent homes.

Firefighters initiated an aggressive attack while conducting a search of the home that resulted in the rescue of the family's dog from a bedroom.

One resident was transported to a local hospital after receiving minor burns during the fire. The fire was declared under control after about an hour.
