On Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 2:50 PM units of the Santa Clara County Fire Department responded to a smoke investigation in the area of Patio Drive near Decorah Lane. Upon their arrival firefighters from Engine 11 discovered a two-story single family dwelling at 74 Decorah Lane with smoke and flames showing from the roof.
Firefighters immediately conducted a search of the home and confirmed there were no occupants while exterior crews deployed hand lines to protect adjacent structures from potential spread of the fire. Additional resources were requested by the incident commander to assist with knockdown, overhaul and salvage. Neighboring homes escaped unscathed, but the fire building suffered extensive damage as much of the roof was consumed by the rapidly spreading flames.
The fire was declared under control almost an hour after the initial dispatch at 3:47 PM. There were no reported injuries to either civilians or firefighters and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
