Fire Strikes San Jose Cannabis Club
On Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 3:04 AM, units of the San Jose Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 450 Drake Street near downtown San Jose.
Firefighters arrived to find a working fire in a converted 1,000 square foot, single-story, single family dwelling housing the Herb Appeal medical marijuana dispensary. An aggressive offensive attack was initiated by Battalion 1, with crews from Engine 4, Engine 1, Engine 3, Truck 1 and Truck 30 working quickly to keep the fire from spreading throughout the structure's attic and beyond the front of the building.
A second-alarm was called to contend with overhaul and the fire was declared under control at 5:04 AM.
There were no injuries to either firefighters or civilians and the structure appears to be salvageable.
