San José Fire Office of Emergency Services sponsors preparedness fair
On Friday, October 17th the City of San José Fire Department Office of Emergency Services held an emergency preparedness fair at the San José City Hall Rotunda.
It was no coincidence that the day chosen for the fair coincided with the 25th anniversary of the Loma Prieta earthquake that violently shook the Bay Area as well as Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties. The quake was responsible for 63 deaths, over 3,700 injuries and over $5.5 billion in damage.
The fair was well-attended by citizens visiting City Hall, city employees and hundreds of school children. Numerous exhibitors ranging from San José Prepared to San José Search and Rescue offered information on how best to prepare for all types of emergencies, including natural disasters.
