Fire erupts on ranch east of Gilroy
On Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at 4:47am, firefighters responded to a report of an outside fire in the 2700 block of Ferguson Road east of the city of Gilroy.
Arriving firefighters from the Gilroy Fire Department, CAL FIRE, Morgan Hill Fire Department and the South Santa Clara County Fire District immediately set to work attacking the flames consuming stacks of wooden pallets, vehicles and a portion of a barn structure used to house various materials. Thanks to quick work firefighters were able to save most of the barn and its contents.
Due to the size of the fire and lack of available water supply, additional resources from the San José Fire Department, Spring Valley Volunteer Fire Department, San Mateo County Fire, Hollister Fire Department and Fire Associates of Santa Clara Valley were summoned to the scene to assist.
After several hours firefighters were able to extinguish the bulk of the flames with no injuries reported. Are you a member of the fire service?
