San José Fire Fighters Local 230 and the IAFF host FIRE OPS 101

The role of fire fighter has evolved over the years into a multifaceted profession requiring a broad range of skills and knowledge. To help community leaders understand the demands faced by fire fighters on a daily basis the men and women of San José Fire Fighters Local 230 and the International Association of Fire Fighters recently hosted FIRE OPS 101, an opportunity for elected and appointed officials to participate in hands-on fire fighting, rescue operations, and emergency medical services while under the supervision of San José Fire Fighters.

FIRE OPS 101 takes participants into the world of the fire fighter as they dress out in the same protective gear, use the tools of the trade, and fight live fire while discovering what it takes to protect America's tenth largest city day-in and day-out.
