Four-Alarm Fire Strikes Two San Jose Homes
On Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 12:15 PM, units of the San Jose Fire Department responded to a report of a kitchen fire in a two-story home located at 6090 Guadalupe Mines Road on the city's southwest side.
While en route firefighters reported heavy black smoke showing and arrived to discover a well established fire in a single family dwelling with flames impinging on an adjacent exposure (b-side). The fire quickly spread into a neighboring home's attic requiring a fourth-alarm of mutual aid companies to be dispatched from the Santa Clara County Fire Department.
Firefighters were able to bring both fires under control in just over 60 minutes. Unfortunately both houses were deemed to be uninhabitable displacing a total of nine people, including four adults and five children.
