Three-alarm fire destroys two Sunnyvale homes
On Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at 0925 hours, Sunnyvale firefighters and patrol responded to reports of a fire in the 900 block of Lantana Drive.
While en route, units reported a large column of black smoke rising from the area. On arrival a working fire that appeared to be between two homes was spreading rapidly and extending into one two story home and a neighboring one story home.
As crews arrived they initiated an offensive attack in an attempt to contain the fire. Unfortunately the blaze extended into the attics of both homes making extinguishment difficult. Nearly two hours of non-stop firefighting kept the flames from spreading to other homes in the neighborhood. There were no injuries reported. Are you a member of the fire service?
