Fire Strikes South San Jose Home
On Friday, June 18, 2010 at 5:45 PM, units of the San Jose Fire Department responded to reports of fire in a single family dwelling at 841 Lewiston Road on the city's south side.
Arriving firefighters were confronted with a blaze that had started in the home's kitchen, then quickly extended into the attic, and burned its way through the shake roof.
Offensive operations prevented the flames from consuming the entire home while the crew of Engine 26 conducted downwind ember patrol to insure that no other structures caught fire.
The bulk of the fire was knocked down within 45-minutes, but due to extensive overhaul a second alarm was struck for additional companies to respond.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury during the incident.
