Multi-alarm fire breaks out at San José apartment building

On Sunday, May 24, 2015 at 0502 hours, San José Firefighters responded to a working structure fire in a four-unit, two-story, apartment building at 1360 Lick Avenue. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire showing from the garage area with flames extending to the interior of one apartment unit on the second-floor.

Firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze and confirm that all residents had safely evacuated the structure after initial reports indicated that a wheelchair bound occupant was possibly trapped.

The fire left five children and seven adults temporarily homeless with the Red Cross requested to assist with housing. There were no injuries reported.
