Flooding Leads to Water Rescues at San José Golf Course

On Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at approximately 0645 hours, units of the San José Fire Department responded to a report of people trapped by flood waters at the Los Lagos Golf Course near Capitol Expressway and Senter Road.

The initial call to Fire Communications reported as many as 20 homeless subjects trapped in trees by flood waters from the rain swollen Coyote Creek. As crews arrived on scene a search along accessible portions of the flooded creek was begun to determine the number and location of those requiring assistance.

Water rescue resources and a CAL FIRE helicopter were dispatched to the scene in preparation for an extended rescue operation.

Firefighters were able to locate and rescue five people during the incident. It was determined that there were no other victims in the area and the search concluded around 0900 hours.
