Early morning fire damages San Jose home
On Thursday, January 7, 2013 at 1:18 AM, the San Jose Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire in the 1500 block of McKendrie Street near Dana Avenue just north of the Rose Garden area.
Upon their arrival, first due Engine Company 7 reported heavy smoke and flames showing from a small single story dwelling. Firefighters quickly established a water supply and stretched hand lines into place for an offensive operation. During a primary search of the residence it became clear that there was no one inside the home and that the structure was being renovated.
Interior operations were hampered by holes in the floor, but firefighters were able to knockdown the bulk of the fire within 30-minutes. There were no injuries to either civilians or firefighters.
