Wildland fire threatens homes near Almaden Quicksilver Park
On Saturday, July 26th, 2014, at 4:32 pm, units of the San José Fire Department and CAL FIRE responded to a wildland fire burning in an area above 20799 Mountain Drive near Almaden Quicksilver County Park.
As firefighters arrived they quickly positioned apparatus to protect homes that were threatened by the blaze. Crews hiked into the hills to attack the blaze directly while air tankers and Copter 106 conducted aerial firefighting operations.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to approximately 15 acres thanks to an aggressive attack and cooperative efforts between San José Fire and CAL FIRE. Crews remained on scene throughout the night to monitor the area for any hot spots.San José Fire Department Assignment:
