San Jose Firefighters Battle Two-Alarm Blaze

On Saturday, March 21, 2009, just before 5:00 a.m., units of the San Jose Fire Department were dispatched to 345 Northlake Drive for reports of smoke from the roof of a 100' x 300' single-story, multiple-occupancy, commercial structure.

First due Truck and Engine Company 14 (C-Shift) arrived to find heavy smoke issuing from the roof of the structure and active fire in the attic space above a hair salon. Smoke quickly gave way to heavy fire conditions that extended approximately 30-feet above the building.

Under the direction of Battalion Chief Jerry Buzzetta (B10-C), assisted by Battalion Chiefs Gary Galasso (B1-C), Alan Anderson (B2-C), and Juan Diaz (Safety), crews were able to hold the fire in check and limit damage to the unit of origin.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported.
