Two-Alarm East San José Blaze Leaves 16 Homeless

On Friday, February 5, 2016, at 0755 hours, San José Firefighters responded to reports of a residential structure fire at 2053 Nottoway Avenue.

Crews arrived to find a working fire with heavy smoke and flames showing from a one-story, 1,167 square foot home, with fire extending to an adjacent residence.

Firefighters stretched multiple hand lines into place, initiated fire attack and conducting searches of the fire building and adjacent homes. Initial reports of occupants still inside the burning home proved unfounded with all residents able to safely escape.

One resident was transported to a local hospital after suffering minor injuries.
