One Dead in Major San Jose Vehicle Accident

On Sunday, October 3, 2010 just before 7:00 AM, units of the San Jose Fire Department, including first due Engine 7 and Truck Company 30, responded to a police report of a major injury accident involving a single vehicle that struck multiple parked vehicles and a tree near the intersection of Park Avenue and Emory Street in the Rose Garden neighborhood of San Jose.

Upon arrival the crew of Engine 7 discovered a Mercedes Benz on its roof with two individuals trapped inside with a downed tree resting on the vehicle. Firefighters immediately set about assessing the medical condition of the victims while additional resources arrived to assist with stabilization of the vehicle for extrication.

The first victim was quickly removed from the car and was declared deceased at the scene. A second victim was extricated with obvious injuries and transported to an area hospital for treatment.

It was clear from the severe damage to the Mercedes Benz that the car was traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided with multiple parked cars, splitting one of the parked vehicles length-wise before coming to rest on its roof.
