Two-Alarm fire rips through San José condo
On Saturday, February 5, 2005 units of the San José Fire Department responded to multiple reports of smoke pouring from the garage of a three-story condominium located at 1110 Silver Hill Drive in San Jose's Almaden Valley.
Upon arrival firefighters were confronted with a rapidly spreading blaze that had apparently started in the first floor garage and extended to the floors above. A second-alarm was immediately struck summoning additional resources to the scene.
Fire suppression efforts were hampered by leaking fuel from one of two vehicles inside the gutted garage. Flames would periodically erupt beneath and alongside one of the cars while efforts were being made to prevent gasoline from flowing into the sewage system.
The cause of the fire was not immediately clear, but there were indications that the blaze began in the garage. There were no reports of injuries, but the fire did displace at least five residents. Are you a member of the fire service?
