Beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. Brad passed away suddenly on July 2, 2015. He was raised in Mountain View, California, and attended St. Francis High School and Foothill College. He joined the Morgan Hill Fire Department in 1965 and served as Fire Chief from 1974 to 1994. He was also the founder and served on the board of the Morgan Hill Mushroom Mardi Gras Festival, which has raised nearly one million dollars for high school grants and scholarships.
He was a descendent of two pioneer Santa Clara Valley families, the Spencer’s of Mountain View and the Perry’s from Cornwall, England who came to California in the 1850’s to work at the Almaden Quicksilver Mines. In the 1860’s the Perry’s moved to the Coyote arena ran the stage coach stop and inn called the 15Mile House.
Brad had numerous interests including amazing his grandson with magic tricks, helping his wife with her antique business of 25 years, watching British mysteries on PBS, genealogy, travel, local history, and cooking (he made a great beef bourguignon). He and René would start the day with the daily paper and a cup of coffee at Starbucks. The barista would see him coming and always have his order, a Venti Blonde ready at the counter.
He is survived by hi wife René, son Devin, daughter Brynne, and grandson Aidan.
