Burn Foundation Donates $5,000

On Wednesday, August 4, 2010 members of the San Jose Fire Department, represented by the firefighters of San Jose Station 7 (A Shift) and Battalion Chief Kevin Conant, hosted faculty, students, administrators and members of the Trace Elementary School community at a brunch highlighted by the presentation of a framed American flag that was recovered from a building on the Trace campus destroyed by a catastrophic fire.

The flag, presented to Trace Elementary's Principal, Anacelia Rocha and San Jose Unified School District Superintendent, Dr. Vincent Matthews, was accompanied by a poem written and presented by Battalion Chief Jim Voreyer.

In addition to the flag presentation the San Jose Firefighters Burn Foundation contributed $5,000 to assist Trace Elementary teachers with much needed teaching supplies.
