Fire guts Cupertino apartment
On Sunday, October 7, 2012 at approximately 2:30 PM, units of the Santa Clara County Fire Department and the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety Fire Services Bureau responded to a report of smoke inside a structure at 21230 Homestead Road in Cupertino.
While en route firefighters reported a column of smoke showing from the area. Once on scene a working fire was confirmed in a second story apartment with heavy smoke showing. An evacuation was immediately launched with the assistance of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department.
Firefighters were able to quickly knockdown the bulk of the fire saving apartment units on either side of the fire unit. There were no injuries reported, but one elderly resident was displaced from her home. Are you a member of the fire service?
