Fire agencies prepare for another tough wildland fire season
Firefighters from various South Bay departments converged on Saratoga's Sanborn County Park to hone their wildland firefighting skills during two days of exercises.
Crews from CAL FIRE, San José, Santa Clara County, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Gilroy, South Santa Clara County, Morgan Hill and Milpitas came together to practice various disciplines essential to successful wildland firefighting.
Activities included deploying resources for structure protection assignments and vegetation fire simulations that required participants to work hand-in-hand while addressing the multifaceted challenges inherent in wildland firefighting situations.
As California contends with one of the worst droughts in its history, firefighters continuously work on improving their tactics and strategies through this and other essential drills. Are you a member of the fire service?
