Suspicious fire destroys another San José home
On Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 0423 hours, units of the San José Fire Department battled another in a series of suspicious blazes believed to be the work of a serial arsonist.
The fire was initially reported directly to firefighters at San José Fire Station 8 by a passerby. As Engine Company 8 responded to the home, located just one block away, additional resources were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon their arrival firefighters were confronted by a well-established blaze that had already consumed much of the home’s roof. An elderly couple were able to escape the fire thanks to neighbors that saw the fire.
The fire appears to have been intentionally set on the exterior of the home and is one of more than a dozen blazes that have broken out in a small area of downtown San José.UPDATE: This is one of several arson blazes to strike downtown San José during a five day period. Most of the fires have been linked to a serial arsonist that has been apprehended by members of the San José Fire Department Arson Unit and the San José Police Department. Are you a member of the fire service?
