San José Homes Damaged in 2-Alarm Fire
On Saturday, August 13, 2016, at 2111 hours, units of the San José Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a house fire at 1427 Gordy Drive in the city’s Berryessa neighborhood. Callers to Fire Communications described seeing flames and smoke showing from windows on the second-floor of a two-story residential structure.
Crews arrived to find a well-established blaze with fire extending to an adjacent home. Firefighters deployed multiple hand lines and an aerial master stream in a defensive attack on the main fire building, while locating and extinguishing the fire that had spread to the neighboring home.
All occupants were able to safely escape the fire in both homes. One firefighter was treated and released from a local hospital after sustaining minor injuries. Assignment:
