Two-alarm fire heavily damages San José condominium
On Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 4:28 AM, units of the San José Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a fire in the vicinity of Capitol Expressway and Narvaez Avenue on the city's south side.
As firefighters converged on the area it was determined that the fire was working on the second floor of a two story, multi-unit residential structure at 671 Yolo Court. Crews quickly stretched attack lines to the involved unit and initiated a primary search. A second-alarm was struck eight minutes later as companies worked to extinguish the blaze.
A resident of the involved unit escaped the fire with her dog thanks to the efforts of police that had secured a ladder. She was later transported for treatment of smoke inhalation. One firefighter received minor burns and was treated and released from an area hospital. Are you a member of the fire service?
